Montauk's Hero Beach Club
Several times each summer I venture out East to the Hamptons—more often in Southampton, but this summer I made the trek farther east to the charming, yet bustling Long Island hamlet, Montauk—named after the Native American Montaukett tribe.
My sister-in-law drove up from Philly, picking up me and my daughter in Manhattan. Together with our toddlers in tow we made our way up Montauk Highway, passed each of the Hamptons, until a little over three hours later we pulled into the graveled parking lot of Hero Beach Club.
As we opened the door to our room, we felt our city-escape begin. The luxurious white bedding by Hill House Home was ultra inviting, and cozy, where as the printed tiles throughout the bathroom entryway and shower along with the furniture from Bali, transported us to our own little oasis, as though we weren’t even in New York anymore.
While we didn’t make use of the pool area, which looked amazing, we did take full advantage of Umbrella Beach which was just steps away from our room. After walking through the garden to the private entrance to the beach, not even a minute after stepping out the door, the beach attendant was helping us get setup with sandbag loungers and beach umbrellas.
The waves were quite rough, so while that may be awesome for surfers, it’s not so great for mommies wrangling babies. We did get our toes wet with our tots, but we mostly had fun digging in the sand.
Each morning Hero has continental breakfast, so we grabbed some bagels and bites and some much needed coffee (yes, they have Almond Milk).
On our final morning at Hero, we had a lovely note under our door from the resort manager thanking us for our stay.
The only thing that could have made this trip any sweeter is if Hero had Oat milk at the breakfast bar ; )
